Inside the Schools

St. Joseph’s Institution International School Malaysia stands apart as a truly unique educational community, shaped by a rich Lasallian heritage, a deep commitment to holistic development, and a living culture grounded in The Virtues Project. At our core, we believe that education is not simply the transmission of knowledge but the formation of Faith, Community, and Service. This philosophy influences every aspect of school life, creating an environment where children are not only taught but transformed.

The Lasallian tradition, which spans more than 300 years, emphasises faith, community, and service as foundations for meaningful and purposeful lives. These values shape our classrooms, corridors, and shared spaces. At SJIIS, relationships matter. Teachers know their students as individuals with strengths, stories, and aspirations. This deep sense of community guides our teaching, pastoral care, and the way we nurture character across the curriculum, ensuring every young person feels seen, valued, and supported.

Our school motto, Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve, captures the heart of our mission. Students arrive full of curiosity and potential, and they leave equipped to serve their communities with integrity, humility, and purpose. This is not a slogan; it is a lived expectation that shapes how we foster responsibility, resilience, and moral courage.

The Virtues Project plays an important role in supporting this growth. Its language and practices are used daily in classrooms, assemblies, class meetings, and restorative conversations, as well as through student leadership groups such as the Changemakers and the Young Lasallians. Children learn to recognise and develop qualities such as Respect, Responsibility, Empathy, and Perseverance. These virtues help them understand who they are becoming and how their actions impact others. We are proud to be recognised as an Exemplary Virtues School, a testament to the authenticity and unity of our community.

Our PSHE curriculum strengthens this work by helping students build wellbeing, emotional regulation, relationships, digital citizenship, and social awareness. It provides practical skills and guidance for navigating challenges and applying virtues in daily life, ensuring students can act thoughtfully and confidently in every situation.

Lasallian education and Service Learning are woven into the heart of our curriculum. Through inquiry learning, reflection, and student-led initiatives such as the Changemakers Council and the Young Lasallians, students immerse themselves in action-based projects linked directly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. They learn to see the connection between their learning, their character, and their responsibility to contribute meaningfully to a more just and sustainable world.
