The International Baccalaureate Curriculum was introduced by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) in 1968. The curriculum is well-known for its academically progressive and rigorous primary, secondary and pre-university programmes.
These programmes are the Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), Middle Years Programme (IB MYP), Diploma Programme (IBDP) and Career-related Programme (IB CP).
The International Baccalaureate Curriculum has gained recognition globally, especially in Asia. The IBO recognises several international schools in Southeast Asia as IB World Schools.
Here is a list of international schools in Singapore offering the IB Curriculum.
1. Anglo-Chinese School (ACS International)
Located at Jalan Hitam Manis, ACS International offers the IBDP to learners in Year 5 and 6. The majority of their Year 4 students undertake the IBDP course after completing their IGCSE, Pre IB or Foundation IB.
2. Ascensia International School
Located at the heart of Singapore, Ascensia International School offers the IB PYP and IB DP for students in primary and pre-university levels respectively.
3. Australian International School Singapore
Australian International School Singapore offers the IB PYP to students from Preschool to Year 5 and the IB DP for Years 11 and 12. Students in Years 6 to 8 and 9 and 10 are taught the Australian Curriculum and the Cambridge IGCSE respectively.
4. Canadian International School
The Canadian International School has two campuses – Lakeside Campus and Tanjong Katong Campus. The IB PYP, IB MYP and IB DP are offered at the Lakeside Campus whereas the IB PYP is offered at the Tanjong Katong Campus.
5. Chatsworth International School
Chatsworth International School offers the IB PYP, IB MYP and IB DP to students ages 3 to 18. Additionally, classes are generally small with a set teacher-to-student ratio. The school is located at Bukit Tinggi Road.
6. Dover Court International School
Dover Court International School offers the IB DP and the International BTEC Diploma in Business Diploma to students in Years 12 and 13. The classes are conducted in small batches, personalising learning for the students.
Located at Bukit Batok West Avenue, Dulwich College Singapore offers the IB DP and IB CP to students aged 16 to 19. The school also offers boarding to students aged 16 to 18 and who have families residing outside of Singapore.
8. EtonHouse International Schools
Etonhouse International Schools has four campuses; three of which offer the IB programme. Their Broadrick and Thomson campus offers the IB PYP to students from Nursery to Year 6 whereas their Orchard campus offers the IB PYP and IB DP to primary and high school level students.
9. German European School Singapore
Located at Dairy Farm Lane, German European School Singapore offers the IB PYP, IB MYP and IB DP to learners ages 2 to 18. Apart from studies, the school has a wide array of after-school activities for students to participate in to encourage a balanced school life.
10. Global Indian International School (GIIS)
GIIS offers the IB PYP to students ages 5 to 11 and the IB DP to students ages 12 to 18. The school is located at Punggol Field Walk.
Established in 2006 as the Chinese International School in Singapore, Hillside World Academy integrates Eastern and Western values through the IB philosophy. They offer the IB PYP, IB MYP and IB DP to learners from primary to high school levels.
12. Hwa Chong International School
Located at Bukit Timah Road, Hwa Chong International School offers the IB DP to students in Years 5 and 6. Additionally, the school offers boarding services to their students.
Situated at Preston Road, ISS International Schools offers the IB PYP to learners in kindergarten to Grade 5, IB MYP for Grades 6 to 10 and IB DP for Grade 11 and 12 learners.
14. Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah
Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah offers the PSLE and Islamic Studies Placement Examinations for Primary Level students. Upon completion of their Primary Level, their students have the option to take the IB DP.
15. Nexus International School (Singapore)
Established in 2008, the school offers the IB PYP, IB MYP and IB DP to learners at Primary and Secondary levels. The students will also be exposed to their enhanced English National Curriculum Framework. Additionally, the school offers foreign language lessons such as French, Mandarin and Spanish.
16. North London Collegiate School (NCLS) (Singapore)
Located at Depot Road, NLCS offers their Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 1 learners their First School programme where play and practical activities are emphasised. As the learner's progress, they are taught the NLCS UK-based curriculum. The IB DP and IB CP are offered to learners in their final educational stage at the school.
NPS International School offers its primary and middle school students the Cambridge curriculum. High school students in Grades 9 to 10 sit for the IGCSE or CBSE examination progressing towards their IB DP and CBSE examination in Grades 11 to 12.
18. Odyssey The Global Preschool
Odyssey The Global Preschool has five branches across Singapore. The school offers an award-winning curriculum within a fully equipped Reggio Emilia Inspired campus. Since 2017, the school offers the IB PYP to their students.
19. One World International School
One World International School offers the IB PYP for early years and primary school students. As students progress to secondary school, they are offered the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum from ages 11 to 16 in preparation for their IB DP at 16 to 18 years.
Located at Pasir Ris Heights, Overseas Family School offers the International Early Years Curriculum and International Primary Curriculum to Kindergarten and Elementary School level students. The IB MYP is offered to students in Grades 6 to 10 with an addition of the IGCSE examination in Grade 9 to 10. The IB DP is later offered to students in Grades 11 to 12.
21. St. Francis Methodist School
Students ages 6 to 12 at St. Francis Methodist School are offered The Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Programme. Lower secondary level students are taught the Singapore-Cambridge curriculum. Upper secondary level students have the options of IB DP, IGCSE and GCE O-Level.
22. St. Joseph's Institution International
St. Joseph’s Institution International offers the International Primary Curriculum to students at the Elementary School levels. The IGCSE and IB DP are offered to High School level students. The school is located at Thomson Road.
23. Stamford American International School
Stamford American International School offers the IB PYP, IB MYP and IB DP to their students from primary to secondary school levels. The school also offers boarding facilities to students from Grades 6 to 12.
Tanglin Trust School at Portsdown Road caters to students ages 3 to 18. Students ages 14 to 16 sit for the IGCSE examination and as they progress to Sixth Form they are offered the A Level and IB DP.
25. The Little Skol-House
Established in 1994, The Little Skool-House has multiple branches across Singapore. The school offers the IB PYP alongside the Little Skool-House relationship-based curriculum to encourage self-confidence and independence among learners.
26. United World College of South East Asia (UWCSEA)
Located at Dover Road, UWCSEA offers the K-12 curriculum to their students from Kindergarten to High School. High school students then sit for the IGCSE and IB DP examinations. Additionally, the school offers boarding facilities for their students.
XCL World Academy offers the full range of IB Programmes. The IB PYP is offered to students ages 3 to 11, IB MYP for students ages 11 to 16 and the IB DP, IB CP and High School Diploma for students ages 16 to 18. The school also offers a Nursery Programme for students ages 2 to 3.
