The private education sector is huge in Singapore with a wide range of international schools and preschools to cater to the country’s growing expatriate community. Currently, local children are not allowed to enter international schools unless permission is granted by Singapore’s Ministry of Education.
There are currently over 60 international schools located in Singapore offering curricula such as the American Curriculum, British Curriculum and International Baccalaureate Curriculum.
Popular qualifications include the IGCSE, A Levels and IB Diploma Programme. Singapore is also home to a large number of international preschools, a number of them adopting the Reggio Emilia approach for their curriculum.

Popular international schools in Singapore have a waiting list so it is wise to prepare early when searching for a school. Parents who are considering enrolling their child in an international school in Singapore should do as much research as possible through school websites and social media pages. Good ways to see if a school is right for your child is to visit the school, attend school tours and Open Days, and speak to the teaching staff and admissions team, among others.
