3 Schools in Brunei Offering the British Curriculum

Also known as the National Curriculum of England, the British Curriculum is one of the most popular curricula offered by international schools in Southeast Asia. The curriculum is known for its broad and balanced subjects and is organised into Key Stages from preschool to pre-university level. The British Curriculum culminates in globally recognised qualifications such as the (I)GCSE and A Levels. 

Here are three British international schools located in Brunei:

 

Jerudong International School

1. Jerudong International School  

Jerudong International School is located in Bandar Seri Bagawan and began operating in 1997. Other than being a day school, full and weekly boarding is offered to students as well. Students in Junior School (Nursery to Year 6), Middle Years (Years 7 to 9) and Upper Years (Years 10 & 11) follow the British Curriculum. Year 10 & 11 students sit for the IGCSE examinations. A Levels and IB Diploma Programme are offered at pre-university level to Upper Years (Years 12 & 13) students.

 

Hornbill International School

2. Hornbill International School

In 2003, British Garrison in Seria - Seria Service Children’s School and the Gurkha Children's English School came together to become Hornbill International School. The school caters to Nepali children of Gurkha soldiers and children of serving British military and civilian MOD personnel. English is used as the main medium of instruction but variations are provided to Nepali children to preserve their fluency in their first language. Located in Bandar Seri Bagawan, Hornbill International School is open to students aged 3 to 11 years old.

 

International School of Brunei

3. International School of Brunei  

International School of Brunei is a day and boarding school offering a British education to students aged 2 to 18 years old. The school was originally established in 1964 but relocated to a purpose-built campus in Kampung Sungai Hanching in 2015. At the end of secondary school, students sit for the IGCSE examinations. In addition, Bruneian students have to complete the Brunei-Cambridge GCE O Level in their native language. The IB Diploma Programme is offered to pre-university students.
