The International Baccalaureate Curriculum was introduced by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) in 1968. The curriculum is well-known for its academically progressive and rigorous primary, secondary and pre-university programmes.
These programmes include the Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), Middle Years Programme (IB MYP), Diploma Programme (IB DP) and Career-related Programme (IB CP). The International Baccalaureate Curriculum has gained recognition globally, especially in Asia. The IBO recognises several international schools in Southeast Asia as IB World Schools.
Here is a list of international schools in Thailand offering the IB curriculum:
1. American Pacific International School
Located in Chiangmai, American Pacific International School offers the IB PYP, IB MYP and IB DP for their students in primary to pre-university levels. The school also offers boarding facilities for international students ages 10 to 19.
Ascot International School in Bangkok delivers the IB PYP to their 3 to 11-year-old students, and the IB DP to their 16 to 18-year-old students. Apart from academics, the school also provides extracurricular activities, excursions, school trips and summer camps to reinforce the curriculum and create a balanced school life for their students.
Established in 1957, Bangkok Patana School welcomes students from early years to secondary school levels. Students are taught the English National Curriculum with students sitting for the IGCSE examination in Years 10 and 11. After completion, the majority of their senior students (Year 12 and 13) progress toward the IB DP.
4. British International School
The British International School in Phuket welcomes students from early years up to pre-university levels. The English National Curriculum is taught to primary level students whereas secondary level students are taught the National Curriculum of England and are prepared for IGCSE. The IB DP is offered to students at their pre-university level.
5. Concordian International School
Concordian International School offers a Pre-K programme that welcomes students from the age of 2 and the IB PYP for students in Pre-K to grade 5. The IB MYP is offered to students in grades 6 to 10 with the IB DP offered in the following grades as the students progress. The school is located in Bang Kaeo.
6. Didyasarian International Preparatory School
Located in Bangkok, Didyasarian International Preparatory School offers the IB PYP to their learners at the primary school level. In addition, the school has a D-PREP programme which allows students to have a more hands-on experience to learn.
7. Garden International School Bangkok
Garden International School follows the British education system for their students at primary and secondary school levels. As the students enter Year 10 and 11, they are prepared to sit for the IGCSE examination to progress towards IB DP when they enter Years 12 and 13.
8. Hua Hin International School
The school is located in Hin Lek Fai, welcoming students from early years up to secondary school. The school follows the English National Curriculum in teaching and preparing their students as they sit for the IGCSE examination at 14 to 16 years. The IB DP is offered to students as they enter their senior year (16 to 18 years).
9. International School Bangkok
The International School Bangkok is located at Nichada Thani. The school has a specialised curriculum curated by three of its curriculum specialists on campus. Standards-based learning and transferable learning are emphasised in the curriculum. The school also offers the IB DP to their student's ages 16 to 19.
10. International School Eastern Seaboard
The International School Eastern Seaboard offers the IB DP to students in grade 11 and grade 12. Apart from academics, the school also offers an array of after-school activities to ensure that students have a balanced learning experience. The school is located in Bowin.
KIS International School in Bangkok offers a full range of IB programmes. They offer the IB PYP for students ages 3 to 12, the IB MYP for students 11 to 16 years old and the IB DP or IB CP for students ages 16 to 19. Apart from academics, the school also offers an array of extracurricular activities, residential and field trips for their students to apply their academic knowledge to the outside world.
12. Magic Years International School
Founded in 1990, Magic Years International School provides childhood practice and academic learning to students in their early years and primary years. The students are taught through the IB PYP framework. Recently this year, the school has expanded their middle school programme for students in grade 6 and will continue to open a new grade level each year until grade 12.
Located in Wattana, Bangkok, NIST International School offers the IB PYP, IB MYP and IB DP for their students from early years to Year 13. The school also offers over 300 activities that students can participate in after school.
14. Pan-Asia International School
Pan-Asia International School welcomes students from kindergarten to pre-university levels. The school uses an international curriculum, for their kindergarten and primary years students. The IB PYP and IB DP are later than offered to students in grades 6 to 12 and grades 11 to 13 respectively.
15. Prem Tinsulanonda International School
Prem Tinsulanonda International School in Huai Sai, Mae Rim offers all four IB programmes – IB PYP, IM MYP, IB DP, and IB CP to students ages 3 to 19. Additionally, the school also offers boarding facilities with flexible boarding options for their students.
16. Regents International School
Students from pre-nursery to Year 11 at Regents International School are taught the English National Curriculum. Following the GCSE examinations, senior year students are offered the IB DP course in preparation for university. The school also offers boarding facilities for their students from Years 3 to 13.
17. Ruamrudee International School
Ruamrudee International School, located in Minburi caters to learners from early years to high school levels. The school’s core curriculum is based on the American Education Reaches Out (AERO) standards for students in kindergarten to grade 12. As the student progresses, the school offers both Advanced Placement (AP) classes and IB DP for their senior year students.
18. Singapore International School of Bangkok
Singapore International School of Bangkok follows the hybrid Singapore and Cambridge curriculum for their students from kindergarten to secondary school.In the sixth form, the school offers students the option of AS and A levels. The IB DP is offered for their high school students.
19. St. Andrews International School
St. Andrews International School has four campuses – Dusit, Green Valley, Sathorn and Sukhumvit 107. However, only two campuses offer IB programmes. The Green Valley campus offers the IB PYP and IB DP. The Sukhumvit 107 campus offers the same plus the IB CP.
20. The American School of Bangkok
The American School of Bangkok offers the American curriculum with an international perspective to students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12. Apart from the AP Program, the IB DP is also offered to senior year students.
21. UWC Thailand International School
Located in Thep Krasitti, UWC Thailand International School offers the IB PYP, IB MYP and IB DP for their students from early years to sixth form. Additionally, the school also offers boarding facilities for students in grades 9 and above.
22. Wells International School
Wells International School has five campuses – On Nut, Thong Lo, Bang Na, Chonburi and Yangon. Wells International School Bang Na offers the IB PYP for their primary school level students and Wells International School On Nut offers the IB DP to their senior year students.
